Easter is soon approaching and craving homemade Rice Krispies with some easter fun is what you will see in this post. Sometimes when buying Rice Krispies treats, they are too sweet or not the consistency you like. Making them at home allows you to modify your ingredients and consistency in your treat. In this recipe I used Trader Joe’s Crisp Rice Cereal because it does not have artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. However, the remaining ingredients are unavoidable in terms of being healthy. I hope you will find my Rice Krispies Treats to be an inspiration and joy for your easter!
1- Package (10oz, about 40) regular sized marshmallows
3- tablespoons butter or margarine
1- Pack of Easter Confetti Sprinkle Candies (optional)
1- Sheet of Parchment/Wax Paper to line your pan
1- Dozen Plastic Easter Eggs
-In a large saucepan, heat and melt the butter on low heat.
-Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. The marshmallows will become a liquid and may have bubbles.
-Pour in the 6 cups of Crisp Rice Cereal and fold in butter/marshmallow mixture with the cereal. Stir until the cereal is well coated with the melted marshmallows.
-Use cooking spray on the pan before pouring in your Rice Krispy mixture.
-With a spatula, scoop the Rice Krispy treats into your pan. Place the parchment/wax paper over the cooked Rice Krispy Treats and press firmly and evenly onto the treats to mold into pan (13x9x2-inch) pan. Cut into 2-inch squares.
-For best flavor and results, serve the same day.

To create the easter treats in the images below, mix in the various candies and fold them into the Rice Krispies Treats. Use an empty plastic easter egg as a mold, place the mixture into each half of the egg and snap the egg. Re-open the egg and you will have yourself an easter egg-shaped Rice Krispies Treat. I also used a Hello Kitty cookie cutter to make a Hello Kitty-shaped treat. Cookie cutters are also other ways you can create your treats to give away or to enjoy in your home.
